The single chassis SN 16000 supports a flexible mix of service interfaces (OC-3/STM-1 to OC-192/STM-64, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet) and a range of pluggable optics on one modular line card. High port density and a cost-efficient, pay-as-you-grow architecture deliver superior price/performance metrics at smaller core switching sites.

Sycamore switches seamlessly interoperate in all topologies and protection types, from SONET/SDH standards-based 2- and 4-fiber BLSR/MS-SPRing to dynamic mesh restoration.
